Green-Wood Cemetery – Chapel Restoration

Restoring Green-Wood’s Neo-Gothic chapel at the cemetery’s entrance required both technical expertise and reverence for history. AtW led the selection of the design and contracting teams and oversaw the careful restoration of stonework, stained glass, and the long-forgotten lightning-damaged finial. Despite preservation requirements and active cemetery conditions, the project was delivered on schedule and within budget.

The restored chapel reaffirms its role as a spiritual gateway for visitors, and the project was honored with a Preservation League of New York State Excellence in Historic Preservation Award in 2021. For AtW, the effort was a true labor of love, carried out in partnership with Green-Wood and the project team to return this landmark to its rightful place in the community.
