When Graham Windham set out to actualize their new Brooklyn headquarters, they looked for an owner’s representative whose approach to project management could match their innovative mission. They selected About the Work for our management model that brings innovation to every project through thoughtful controls and strategic oversight. The result is a flagship space that reinvents what a workplace can mean for the Graham Windham community, valued, light-filled, and colorful. It embodies the organization’s mission of support and possibility.
We guided the project with patience and tenacity, navigating a nontraditional design and construction process shaped by location and budget constraints. Our highest value came in bridging the gap between design team intent and contractor execution while building consensus among Graham Windham’s diverse stakeholders. By striking a balance between vision and practicality, we ensured the finished space honored the organization’s mission and operated seamlessly for both staff and clients.
Founded in 1806, Graham Windham collaborates with children, young adults, and families to create innovative supports and services so they can lead successful lives in the face of poverty and structural racism. This 15,000 square foot headquarters now provides a home that uplifts staff and strengthens the services offered to more than 4,000 New Yorkers each year.
