Part of the Solution (POTS)

Part of the Solution first engaged AtW in 2017 to build a project team and lead the planning, design, and construction of an addition to their Bronx community center. The original expansion aimed to add adult education classrooms and office space to support anticipated program growth and bring their integrated service model to more New Yorkers, focusing on food stability, housing, health, education, and financial well being.

When funding and project costs did not align, and following a post pandemic reassessment of priorities, POTS once again turned to AtW to guide a re-invisioned expansion. Opting to utilize the neighboring building’s existing footprint, the project focused on operational improvements and building pantry and staff capacity. Controlling costs, navigating challenging neighbor relations, and managing approval driven schedule delays were the key challenges AtW led the client and project team through to achieve a successful delivery. The resulting addition demonstrated how perseverance and thoughtful capital planning can adapt to changing circumstances and advance mission driven goals.
