As a woman owned and women led firm, delivering a high-quality educational space for the young women and girls of New York City was aligned with our ethos. Girls Prep Bronx, a 90,000 square foot ground up facility serving both elementary and middle school students, represents a major milestone for one of the city’s only all girls public schools. Drawing on our deep experience with planning, designing, and constructing educational spaces in New York City, we guided the school through every phase of the project while ensuring the facility reflects their mission and long term goals.
Delivered through a developer led process, the project required us to balance the needs of an experienced school operator with a development partner less familiar with the building type and its programmatic requirements. We advised on scope definition, managed the school’s internal budget and schedule, and advocated for enhancements beyond the developer’s base scope—such as specialty program spaces, upgraded finishes, and long term infrastructure investments.
We aggressively managed risks across design and construction to ensure the project was delivered on time and within budget. The resulting building includes flexible classrooms, STEM and art labs, administrative offices, and a full size gymnasium, supporting a cohesive student experience across age groups while maintaining distinct zones for different divisions. The facility is a lasting investment in educational equity and an inspiring home for generations of scholars.
